WPT Australia! World Poker Tour event announced Down Under

The World Poker Tour is heading down under after announcing their first-ever event in Australia earlier this week.

The WPT has been expanding their global footprint for years with events across the globe. They’ll scratch Australia off their list when the WPT Australia Festival sets up shop at The Star Gold Coast in Queensland Australia. It runs from September 27 to October 7.

What are details of WPT Australia event?

The WPT Australia Festival will include 10 events with buy-ins ranging from from $330 to $5000 in Australian dollars. That converts to approximately $225 to $3460 US.

The main event at the WPT Australia Festival will begin on October 4 with a buy-in of $2,500 Australian. In US dollars that is approximately $1,730.

“The World Poker Tour is proud to add WPT Australia to our roster of wonderful global events and The Star Gold Coast as a casino partner,” said Angelica Hael, WPT VP of Global Tour Management.

“As a native Australian, I am thrilled to have a WPT event take place in my home country and even more pleased to have it hosted at such a wonderful property.”

Running tournaments in Australia is just another notch in the belt for WPT’s international reach. During its current season, Season 17, the WPT hosted events in Canada, Russia and Spain.

Only a small number of tournaments from Season 18 have been announced yet. But they already include stops in Canada and the United Kingdom.

Season 17 of the WPT concludes next month with their final event, the WPT Tournament of Champions at the ARIA Casino in Las Vegas. The $15,000 tournament begins on June 1 and is expected to run for three days.

Season 18 has only had a few tournaments announced so far. But it will begin on July 20 with the WPT Garden Poker Festival at the Gardens Casino.
