If you’re a fan of progressive knockout tournaments be sure to check BetOnline Poker in March for the King of the Ring Progressive Knockout Series.
The series runs from March 2 to 9 with more than 100 events on the schedule and more than $1 million in combined prize pools. The series has something for poker players of all budgets with buy-ins ranging from $5.50 to $215.
As the series name suggests, all tournaments in the series are progressive knockout tournaments. Here’s how they work. In a progressive knockout tournament, your buy-in is split 50/50 with half going into the prize pool and half placed on your head as a bounty.
When you knockout another player you collect half of their bounty and the other half is added to the bounty on your head. As the tournament progresses the amount you can collect from bounties increases considerably.
Throughout the series there are also three King of the Ring leaderboards with a combined $10,000 available to be won. The three leaderboards are labeled Lightweight, Middleweight, and Heavyweight.
Every time you collect a knockout in a series tournament you collect a leaderboard point. Which leaderboard your points go toward is determined by the tournament’s buy-in. They include:
Lightweight – $5.50 – $11 buy-in
Middleweight – $22 – $55 buy-in
Heavyweight – $100+ buy-in
The King of Ring Series gets started with a bang on the opening day with a $250,000 guaranteed progressive knockout tournament. The tournament has a pricy $215 buy-in, which also means high paying bounties as you get into the later stages of the event.
