The World Series of Poker is known for offering a quality land-based tournament series that tens of thousands of players travel to each summer in the state of Nevada. However, the WSOP is also a provider of online poker gaming in two states currently, the state of New Jersey and Nevada. Players located within the state, be it living as a resident or as a visitor, can access online gaming via the WSOP. Players can enjoy tournament gaming, cash games and more.
The WSOP has now announced that both Nevada and New Jersey will be taking part in the Spring Poker Series, a tournament event set to start this weekend. Depending on where players log in, the amount of cash up for grabs will vary. Nevada players will be competing for $100,000 in guaranteed cash prizes while players in New Jersey will be completely for just a little bit less at $90,000.
The poker festival will last for eight days online and will begin on the 10th of April and continue until the 17th. There will be an event on the schedule each day with the highlight being the Main Event which is scheduled for the 17th. The winner of this event, in both states, will be given the top prize as well as a Champions Ring, created especially for the event.
The Main Event will provide varying cash prizes based on the state of participation. In New Jersey, players will be competing for $40,000 while Nevada players will be competing for $50,000. The buy-in for the event will be $200 and rebuys as well as add-ons will be offered.
The Series of Online Championships is how the Spring Poker Series came about. In the winter, the Winter Poker Classic takes place, this year in January. After the Spring Poker Series, the Online Championships will take place in June then to be followed by the Fall Poker Festival which will take place in October.
For the Spring Poker Series, the first event will begin on the 10th with the $30,000 GTD No Limit Hold’em in each state, with a $200 entry fee. Additional events will have buy-ins ranging from $10 to $100, making the series affordable for every player. The series will feature NLHE in most events with one being Pot Limit Omaha, to be featured on the 13th of April.
This is just one of many offerings the WSOP has for players to enjoy. An additional option includes the Road to the WSOP. The WSOP site is offering players in Nevada as well as New Jersey the opportunity to take part in qualifiers for the Main Event as well as Colossus II. Players will find information on the qualifiers at the WSOP site. For the Main Event, players can compete in $200 qualifiers to earn a package worth $13,000 which includes the buy-in to the main event, $1,000 to enter a bracelet event and $2,000 in travel expenses.
