WSOP Circuit Announces its 2017-18 Schedule

The WSOP Circuit announced the schedule for its 14th season earlier this week with a record 26 events on tap.

The new season runs from August 2017 to May 2018 and will include three new venues that did not take part last season. The three new venues joining the WSOP Circuit are the Thunder Valley Casino in Lincoln, California, the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida and the Seminole Casino Coconut Creek, also in Florida.

The first stop for the 2017-18 season will be Harrah’s Cherokee in North Carolina from August 2-14. The schedule for each stop will be announced at a later date, but the WSOP Circuit is expected to continue their “12 Rings in 12 Days” format which will see at least a dozen WSOP Circuit championship rings handed out at each stop. Each WSOP Circuit stop will also have a $1,675 Main Event.

Four venues will host multiple WSOP Circuit events this season including Harrah’s Cherokee, Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, Choctaw Durant in Oklahoma, and Thunder Valley. Harrah’s Cherokee will actually play host to three WSOP Circuit stops in August, November and April.

The final tournament of the 2017-18 season, the $1 million guaranteed WSOP Global Casino Championship, has not yet been given a venue or a date. Players on the WSOP Circuit will need to earn their way into the championship.

Main Event Winners Get Championship Seat

All Main Event winners during the season receive a free seat in the championship, as does the player who is awarded the Casino Championship at each WSOP Circuit stop. The Casino Championship is awarded to the player that accumulates the most points through the 12 gold ring events at one stop. The Top 50 cumulative point getters over the entire WSOP Circuit schedule also earn a place in the championship.

Anyone who wins a ring event, or finishes in the Top 100 in the WSOP Player of the Year rankings, is also eligible to buy in to the WSOP Global Casino Championship for $10,000.

The 2016-17 WSOP Circuit schedule nears its conclusion this week at Harrah’s New Orleans. The 2017 WSOP Global Casino Championship will be played from August 8-10 at Harrah’s Cherokee in North Carolina during the kickoff event for the 2017-18 season.
