Super High Roller Bowl on the move

The Super High Roller Bowl is changing things up for the upcoming fifth edition. Since it started in 2015, the Super High Roller Bowl has been played during the month of May, including Super High Roller Bowl IV earlier this year. Poker pros with $300,000 to spare for the buy-in will get to splash the pot a little earlier next time, after Super High Roller Bowl V was moved up to December 2018 this week.

The exact dates for Super High Roller Bowl V are December 17-19 at PokerGo Studio in the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. The tournament will be broadcast live on Poker Central’s streaming service PokerGO, and NBC Sports Network will deliver Super High Roller Bowl episodes later.

The big-money tournament will once again have a $300,000 buy-in and will be capped at 48 entries. Anyone interested in playing will need to pay a $30,000 deposit by November 26. A live lottery airing on PokerGo on November 27 will determine who gets the first 25 seats in the exclusive tournament. Of the remaining 23 seats, 18 will be awarded to Aria Casino VIPs, and five will be awarded to the top finishers in the 2018 High Roller of the Year points standings.

The 2018 High Roller of the Year points track all of Poker Central’s high-stakes events. The top five currently consists of Sam Soneri, Cary Katz, Justin Bonomo, Dan Smith and David Peters.

Justin Bonomo the reigning Bowl champ

If Bonomo can remain in the top five in the 2018 High Roller of the Year points standings, he’ll automatically be eligible to defend his crown. Bonomo won the Super High Roller Bowl IV earlier this year in May. He earned $5 million after defeating Daniel Negreanu heads-up. Negreanu still fared quite well with $3 million for second place.

Over the history of the Super High Roller Bowl, other winners were Brian Rast in 2015, Rainer Kempe in 2016 and Christoph Vogelsang in 2017.
