Premier League Adds Players as Tournament Nears Kick-Off

The Premier League VI is set to begin on March 17th and the full list of sixteen invitees has yet to be announced. The league consists of sixteen players competing in the tournament event and the list is now just one player short after the announcement that Jason Mercier and Tobias Reinkemeier have joined the event.

The tournament is invite-only and both poker pros now join the ranks of those competing including Daniel Negreanu and Phil Hellmuth. Now, only one player remains to be named before the full sixteen player field will be ready to take to the felt on March 17th.

This year the Premier League will be filing the event and streaming it live. This will be the first time this viewing option will be available, so now fans will be able to watch live as their favorite or least-favorite pros compete. The event will run from the 17th to the 23rd of March and players can log online to be able to watch the action as it unfolds.

The format to the event will see the field of players split into two groups of eight. Each player will have to compete in four league matches and use the new $2,000 per point system. Daniel Negreanu is competing in the event, as we mentioned, and seems ready to go. At the Party Poker blog, Negreanu is quoted as stating:

“I’m really excited to be back playing the Premier League this year! I love the format and unique events like this are great for poker. I’m honored to be invited and happily support the event and plan on winning it!”
