Poker Central bringing new poker program to Facebook Watch

Poker Central is teaming up with Stadium to deliver a new live poker show on Facebook Watch. Friday Night Poker will debut this Friday, September 21, live from PokerGo Studio at the Aria Casino in Las Vegas.

The new show will air every Friday for 13 weeks starting at 7 p.m. ET and running to 11 p.m. To follow Nevada gaming laws, all poker action will broadcast with a 30-minute delay to negate any chance of collusion or cheating at the tables.

According to Poker Central officials, airing the program on Facebook Watch will allow viewers to interact with players and other viewers directly on the platform. Viewers will reportedly also have a chance to win their way into a future game. Facebook Watch is a free app available for download on mobile devices and desktops.

Sam Simmons, vice-president of content for Poker Central, said in a statement: “As Poker Central continues to expand its reach across audiences, growing in highly engaged social channels was a clear evolution. Developing Friday Night Poker as a customized viewing experience on the Facebook Watch platform represents a significant milestone in that growth.”

Platt, Hanks and Leatherman sign on as hosts

The format for Friday Night Poker will be No-Limit Hold’em cash games. No word yet on the stakes, but they will likely be high to try to draw in some big names in the poker world.

Calling the action will be Jeff Platt, known for his poker podcast and his previous work on Poker Central programming. Joining him will be Brent Hanks and Amanda Leatherman. Hanks is also a regular on Poker Central programming, and Leatherman has been a mainstay on the poker media scene for years, online and on radio.

Leading into each weekly episode of Friday Night Poker, the hosts will take to Facebook Watch in a short preview show. Here they will outline that week’s players and offer their thoughts on players and poker strategy.
