New Jersey Online Gambling Market Sets New Revenue Record

Online gambling is readily available within the state of New Jersey with online casino and poker gaming options. Players located within the state have the opportunity to enjoy quality gaming options from providers such as the WSOP, 888 Holdings, PokerStars and more. The state continues to dominate within the online gambling industry of the United States and for the month of July, a new record was set for the amount of revenues recorded.

Each month, the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement releases the revenue reports showing how much money was earned via online poker and online casino gaming. The overall online gambling industry of the state was able to earn $17.4 million for the month of July which just over 38% more than the same month in 2015. Remarkably, the total revenues earned for July were $1 million more than what was reported for June. Literally $1 million more dollars were earned when comparing the two months!

The $17.4 million earned for the month of July was more than the previously high earnings of $17 million which was hit back in April. The state was able to break records during July for the most total earnings ever recorded. The April revenues were pushed up due to PokerStars entering the online poker industry of the state after Amaya Gaming was finally given the go-ahead by regulators.

However, after the initial month of offering online poker, revenues began to fall flat for the operator. Over the past few months, online poker has seen slight gains when looking at year-on-year revenues but online casino gaming has soared, with revenues jumping up significantly. For online poker, only 6.7% in gains was seen, earning $2 million overall. Online casino gaming was up 44.2% with earnings at over $15.3 million.

Year to date, the overall online gambling market for New Jersey was up just over 32% with $112.2 million in earnings. Poker was up over 10% while casino gaming is up just over 37%. Online poker has brought in more than $15.7 million year to date while casino gaming has earned more than $96.4 million.

The market leader continued to be the sites associated with the Borgata brand with just below $4 million earned in overall poker and casino gaming revenues online. Golden Nugget was not far behind with $3.7 million earned while $3.4 million was provided by Caesars Interactive Entertainment. $3.2 million was earned by Tropicana while Resorts Digital Gaming brought in $3.05 million.

PokerStars was the top online poker operator for the month, earning $754,000 for July. This was a bit less than June earnings of $778,000. The month of July was actually a new market low for the brand. There were two operators who saw nice gains for the month, Caesars Interactive Entertainment and Borgata.

For Caesars, the poker brand was up $50,000 with just under $650,000 in monthly earnings while Borgata online poker sites were up to $608,000 which is a $20,000 increase.

The Golden Nugget has been quite dominate in the online gaming industry for some time now within the state and industry insiders feel that this dominance will only continue after the brand recently released live dealer gaming online. The brand is the only operator who currently offers live dealer gaming via the internet.

Golden Nugget added a studio to their casino venue and uses the help of Ezugi to offer roulette, Dragon Bonus Baccarat and blackjack to players who take part in the online live dealer options.

In the coming weeks, it will be interesting to see how the totals stack up. Will PokerStars be able to get out of their slump? And will the Golden Nugget continue to be the dominate brand?
