New poker room at Resorts World Catskills opens in New York

Poker players looking for a game in New York have another option after the newest poker room in the state opened its doors Monday.

The Resorts World Catskills in Monticello, about two hours north of New York City, opened its doors to New York state gamblers last month, but at the time the poker room wasn’t quite ready. That changed Monday morning as the doors officially opened and the cards were dealt.

The 5,000-square-foot poker room is now the largest in the state. Open 24 hours a day, the Resorts World Catskills poker room features 19 tables with 171 seats and 80 dealers on hand to keep the action moving.

They will feature numerous poker varieties including Limit and No-Limit Texas Hold’em, Pot-Limit and Hi-Lo Omaha and 7-Card Stud. They will also offer bad beat jackpots starting at quad fives. Minimum buy-in will be $30, with the maximum buy-in to be determined by level of play.

“We are committed to providing our guests with the region’s most extensive, exciting luxury experiences and our new poker room is best in its class and a perfect example of this commitment,” Ryan Eller, president and CEO of Resorts World Catskills, said in a release.

The poker room will feature several amenities as outlined by Resorts World Catskills, including an in-room cashier, food and beverage service, USB charging ports at every poker table seat, and large-screen TVs all around the room.

Resorts World Catskills poker room completes casino

With the opening of the poker room, Resorts World Catskills now offers the full Las Vegas-style gaming experience. The entire casino is more than 100,000 square feet with more than 100 live table games including blackjack, craps, baccarat, roulette and pai gow poker. They also feature more than 2,150 slot machines.

Just because Resorts World Catskills seems to have it all doesn’t guarantee it immediate or long-term success. The New York state casino industry has exploded in recent years. Resorts World Catskills is the fourth Las Vegas-style commercial casino to open in the state, with a fifth expected to open by the end of March. That doesn’t include the dozens of tribal casinos and racinos that were already in place.
