Having started in early July and going through to August 10, each sit and go player on NJ.PartyPoker.com and Borgata Poker in New Jersey will be eligible to participate in the five-week long promotion just for playing any of their regular sit & go tournaments.
With the online poker market in Nevada really benefiting from the WSOP that is going on right now, it might be the reason that NJ.Partypoker.com is looking to ride on some of the success, as it would be assumed that due to the tournament coverage, online poker players in New Jersey will have poker on the forefront of their minds, and will naturally turn to online poker and playing Sit and Gos.
The promotion is very straight forward and therefore likely to be popular among players. As a matter of fact it’s fairly similar to the WSOP.com New Jersey online poker promotion that was held earlier in the year. In simple terms, every player that sits down and plays any of the real money Sit & Go tournaments on the PartyPoker New Jersey network will be ranked in two different leaderboards.
The first is a low-stakes leaderboard for SNG players that compete in SNGs with buy-ins $10 and lower, and the second being a higher stakes leaderboard for the bigger buy-in SNG tournaments with buy-ins of $10 and more.
There will be $2,000 paid out each and every week. In total, there will be $11,000 paid out during this promotion. It makes sense that more will be awarded to the higher stakes leaderboard with the top nine players getting a share of the aforementioned prize pool.
On the other hand, the prize pool for the lower stakes leaderboard will be dispersed over a greater number of Sit & Go players with the top 40 ranked players all getting something. More specifically, $200 will go to the top ranked player on the low leaderboard, and $400 will go to the winner of the high leaderboard. And if that wasn’t already good enough, every winner will also get to play in a “winner takes all” tournament with $1000 going to the winner of this tourney.
This Sit and Go promotion is different to many in that it is not based on the number of poker points earned. Instead of using points to rank SNG players in the two leaderboards, Borgata Poker and PartyPoker New Jersey will use a formula that rewards the consistent winners.
The formula is: Leaderboard Points = √buy-in/2 + √wins
Buy-in = The cost of the buy-in to participate in the tournament
Wins = The amount that a player wins in a Sit & Go
It goes without saying that the leaderboard is ranked by the total number of leaderboard points accumulated by each player. So, as you can see the results in Sit & Go tournaments is largely factored into the leaderboard rankings for this promotion. And the more Sit and Gos you play the more chance you give yourself of getting that big result in a tournament to boost your name up one of the Sit and Go leaderboards.
It is important to recognize that heads up Sit and Go tournaments are not eligible for this promotion. What isn’t clear, however, is whether the leaderboard prize pools given away each week is shared between both NJ.PartyPoker and Borgata, or whether they will run separate promotions for their players.
So if you haven’t already created an account with PartyPoker’s online poker room in New Jersey or Borgata Poker to play your favorite SNGs, you should do so.
