It’s almost that time of year again. When the month of May arrives, poker players begin to prepare for the World Series of Poker. The WSOP is a must for poker pros as well as amateurs who dream of winning the coveted gold bracelet and bragging rights for outlasting the tough competition. Poker players know that the WSOP Is coming closer when online poker rooms begin to offer competitions and promotions providing seats to various WSOP events.
Many online poker sites will offer ways for their members to attend the WSOP, with 888Poker being no exception. For years, 888 has provided options for poker fans to earn seats to the main event or other tournaments on the schedule. This year, the brand is offering the WSOP League Tourney for residents of specific areas around the world.
Players located in the UK, Sweden, Australia, Canada, Brazil, Poland or Germany can take part in the special offering which began last Friday. Players have until the 20th to be able to try and earn a seat to the WSOP. The winner will be sent to Las Vegas to compete in the $888 Crazy Eights event which will begin on the 1st of July. Crazy Eights is #54 on the schedule and was named due to the buy-in, $888, and the prize money, $888,888 guaranteed. The event also as a 8-handed structure and the WSOP is being sponsored by the 888 brand.
Players of 888 will have a total of two weeks to take part in the WSOP League tournaments. Buy-ins start at a low $0.10 and by the 21st, the top 27 players of the seven countries on the league leaderboards will be able to take part in the Grand Final Championships. This round is set for the 23rd of May. A champion from each of the countries listed above will earn a package valued at $3,000 to compete in the WSOP tournament.
The Crazy Eights event will have four different Day 1 flights taking place on the 1st and 2nd of July at 10am and 4pm. Players who are knocked out can pay a re-entry fee once per flight. There will be eighteen levels of game play for the flight, each lasting 30 minutes. Players who make it through the first day should be in the money by day 2.
Pros are also expected to get in on the action at 888 including Dominik Nitsche, Bruno Kawauti and Bruno Politano. With an 8-handed tournament like the WSOP event, game play will most quickly and more hands per hour will be played. It will be interesting to see if a player from 888 is able to earn the title win, after competing at the online poker site to earn the seat in the event.
Players who do not earn a seat via the leaderboard challenge can take part in Steps Satellites to gain entry into other events, including the Main Event. The $10,000 buy-in for the Main Event will be covered by 888 for those who manage to work their way up the steps to earn the prize package. 888 is offering players many opportunities to take part in the 2016 WSOP. The 2016 WSOP will take place in Las Vegas at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino starting on the 31st of May. Game play will continue with many events throughout June and July. The final day of play will be the 18th until the final table of the WSOP reconvenes in Las Vegas this fall to see who the overall champion will be.
