2013 Foxwoods Poker Classic Win goes to Justin Schwartz

The 2013 Foxwoods Poker Classic has finished up and the winner of the $2,500 Main Event was Justin Schwartz. Justin was able to outlast the field of 192 players to earn the $112,582 prize. The event kicked off on March 15th and continued throughout the weekend until Justin claimed the title win.

By Day 2 there were under one hundred contending for the final table. The field slowly dwindled down to the money and the day ended with 30 players left. By the end of Day 2, it was Laurence Olanyk who held the chip lead with 696,600. Second in chips was Michael Young who held almost 350,000 so Olanyk held a strong lead.

Schwartz was not far behind with 300,080 going into Day 3. On this day, nine players would need to be eliminated before a cash out was imminent for those remaining. Eventually game play would get down to 21 players remaining, all of which would earn a cash prize. After a few more hours the final nine players were set and Schwartz would be the new chip leader with 1.6 million.

Play would continue until only two players remained: Justin Schwartz and Ryan Eriquezzo. Schwartz still held the chip lead, 4.282 mil to 1.486 mil and this would ensure he would earn the win. On the final hand, Eriquezzo would hold pocket fives against Schwarz’s pocket tens. Eriquezzo would be in on the button for 30,000 and Schwartz decided to raise for a total of 90,000. A reraise was in order from Eriquezzo of 255,000 and Schwartz then pulled an all in. Eriquezzo called and then realized the mistake when the board ran 10-3-3-2-3. Eriquezzo was out in second place and Justin Schwartz would earn the first place win!
